History

The Wrigley Mansion was the creation of William Wrigley Jr., the chewing-gum magnate, and founder of the Wrigley Company. Built in 1932, it was the last of Wrigley’s grand real estate projects and served as a 50th wedding anniversary gift for his wife, Ada.

Sadly, Wrigley passed away shortly after the mansion’s completion, but the Wrigley family continued to use the mansion as a winter retreat until 1973. After changing hands a few times, the mansion was eventually purchased by Geordie Hormel, an heir to the Hormel meatpacking fortune, and his wife Jamie in 1992. The Hormels undertook extensive renovations and opened the mansion to the public as a venue for events, dining, and tours.
